Deconstructing an image

Aesthetic qualities - This image today would be sublime for the darker toned colors and the expression of the men in uniforms
Subject matter - The image is about practicing safe sexual practices in the army
Composition - The focal points are the three men in the different uniforms
Formal elements -The lines and form are 3 dimensional. There is also a negative area is the mustard color All the colors are toned down but still eye catching fitting in with the era color palette
Gesture - You can not make out the men's faces allowing them to fit the identity of any solider
Lighting - From the top right corner due to the yellow negative space created.
Dimension - The dimension is only around 11" as I am looking at it from my laptop screen

During World War II, soldiers were not only fighting but also exploring the "lands" they were defending. The Department of Defense found that many soldiers were falling ill in battle due to sexually transmitted diseases. This ad was probably put in barracks of all the branches to encourage the use of not using prostitutes.
